The Collector is a movie based on a 1963 novel by John Fowles. It was then made into a movie in 1965, and subsequently in 2009, remade again by Marcus Dunstan.
The story revolves around a central figure, namely, the Man known aptly as 'The Collector'. He is so appropriately given such an alias due to his instinct habitual actions of the collection of objects or in the case of this story - living animate objects - for his own personal keeping for his liking.
The Collector is portrayed as a person stripped of all effective human social skills, and as such is cast away by society and shunned by most. Several factors including those may result in his inability to comprehend human emotions and feelings, paving the way to the destructive actions he implements in reaching his desired goals.
One such goal is his infactuation with a certain person (in the novel by John Fowles, the mentioned person is Miranda Grey) or a group. In 2009 film The Collector, the man traps a family in their own household for his own personal interest. Unbeknown and undescribely unlucky, a burglar breaks into the similar household in hopes of robbing a safe.

The 2009 Film, whose story is not exactly the same as the 1963 Novel, is however rewritten largely on the similar theme. Starring Madeline Zima, Andrea Roth, Michael Reilly Burke and Juan Fernandez and directed by Marcus Dunstan, the movie last 88 minutes and indeed live up its genre of horror and thriller.
After being reviewed by horror film critiques, the film is said to be 'a raw, gritty and uncomprismising horror film that puts the previous SAW film to shame.' The Collector is even said to be the next potential 'horror icon' in which people who loves horror movies will remember for his dreadsome role and pity him for his plight. Dread central gave it a 4/5 and Bloody Disgusting gave the film a 3.5/5.
Even though the movie is not out yet, I have found a site where you can watch the whole movie online for free. You will however need to have a zip code or an email submit but the it takes only 5 seconds and is as such very worth it. The movie quality is excellent and is good enough to even watch it on your High Definition LCD Tv or monitor. Definitely a good thriller to watch with friends!
